Oregon council on Monday approved a $70,000 contribution to the Oregon on the Bay Regional Economic Development Foundation.
The city has contributed to the Foundation for the last several years.
The city used to match the amount that was raised by the Foundation, which gets its funding mostly from membership dues and fundraising, but no longer does so, according to Mayor Mike Seferian.
Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins is bringing his T-Town Initiative Project to East Toledo neighborhoods.
“We are going to be changing something that is long overdue, and that is how we address blight in the neighborhoods,” Collins told 150 residents and community leaders at a town hall meeting hosted by the East Toledo Family Center.
East Toledo is the second community to begin the T-Town initiative, following only Point Place.

Then there's International Boxing Club founder and executive director Harry Cummins, who has started another new community program. This time, the IBC is helping people living and coping with Parkinson’s disease.
Currently, there are 11 Parkinson's students enrolled in their "Knock-Out Parkinson's" class.

Alvarado’s gig is making custom guitars from scratch
For years, Art Alvarado has been perfecting the craft of making custom electric guitars from scratch. After years of fine-tuning his skills, he’s finally opened a store of his own, where he can not only sell his guitars, but also create them.
“The store is more my workshop, that happens to have a storefront to display my (completed) guitars,” he said.
