While Governor Ted Strickland reviews a capital budget bill that arrived in his office last week, Brent Welker feels as if he’s sitting on pins and needles.

Whether or not the governor approves an amendment to the budget bill could decide how two area school districts proceed with major construction projects that qualify for funding from the Ohio School Facilities Commission.

Oregon City Council on Monday will consider selling one year notes totaling $4,975,000 to fund various capital improvement projects.

Council at a committee of the whole meeting last Monday agreed to consider voting on the matter at a meeting the following Monday.

“We would borrow the notes in anticipation of a future bond issuance for these various projects,” said Administrator Ken Filipiak.

The Lake Township trustees Tuesday approved personnel changes for the police and fire departments.

On the recommendation of Chief Mark Hummer, the trustees approved the promotion of Adam Lorenzen to full-time status on the police department.

His promotion goes into effect July 7.

Officer Lorenzen began with the department as an auxiliary officer before being promoted to part-time status.
