With the Eastwood School District’s 1 percent income tax collecting more revenues after being on the books for 18 months and the district receiving more revenues than expected from Troy Energy, total revenues for the first two months of the fiscal year starting July 1 are higher than projected for the Wood County school system.

Superintendent Brent Welker last week released figures for the district which show the income tax in July and August of 2008 generated approximately $819,631, compared to $240,271 during the same two months last year.

Proposed changes to the zoning resolution in Woodville Township cover a wide range of issues, including wind energy, adult entertainment businesses, and the definition of a farm.

The township zoning commission will meet Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the fire station, 321 E. Main Street, Woodville, to discuss proposals for the resolution and corrections to the township zoning map.

While Clay’s Gary “Eagle Eye” Row has been a seemingly-permanent fixture around Memorial Stadium, it seems that CHS’s hall-of-fame videographer isn’t the only “legend of the lens” to have secured himself a lifetime’s lease in high school football press boxes.

Approximately nine miles away, another longtime football film man in “The Professor” Bill Bundy, a tenured Genoa High School math teacher, has somewhat more quietly become something of an icon while running the game film for the Comets for the last 24 to 25 years.

The Lake Board of Education upheld a ban on a parent from attending any sporting events for one year.

During their September 17 meeting, board members stated that although their decision may be an emotionally hard one, they had to uphold the district’s policy and do what was right for the district as a whole.

Scott Pennington, whose son Andrew is a senior and a baseball player at Lake High School, was banned from attending any sporting events for one year by Lake Athletic Director Dave Shaffer, after an incident during an Ohio State ACME Baseball Congress tournament in July.
