Oregon City Council will hold a public hearing this month to consider a request for a Special Use Exception (SUE) in a non-agricultural area at 6338 Brown Road for the purpose of housing livestock.
The applicants and property owners, Mohamad Tawil and his wife Nabil, are requesting the SUE in an R-1 Low Density Residential District.
A resolution opposing the sale or lease of the Ohio Turnpike has been approved by the Lake Township trustees.
The trustees approved the resolution Tuesday after receiving a letter from Wood County Commissioner Tim Brown, who last month announced his opposition to a sale or lease of the 241-mile toll road.
Gov. John Kasich’s proposed budget bill includes a provision that could authorize the Ohio Department of Transportation to enter into a lease agreement for the road.
Oregon City Council on Monday will consider a resolution to amend the zoning code pertaining to flood plain regulations.
“This is an issue that the city’s dealt with a number of times over the years when the Army Corps of Engineers makes changes,” City Administrator Mike Beazley said at a committee of the whole meeting last Monday. “The choice is to either allow our residents to take advantage of the federal flood insurance or not. There is a component to this in that council can choose whether or not, as most cities do, to require an additional foot or two of flexibility.”
The man whose name is synonymous with the study of agriculture at Oak Harbor High School – where he has influenced thousands of students in the classroom and the farm field, is retiring May 31.
An open house for Louie Damschroder is scheduled for May 15 from 1-3 p.m. in the agriculture education shop.
Damschroder was a recent graduate of Ohio State University when hired in 1976 by the Benton-Carroll-Salem district for its vocational education program at the high school.
Review of Davis-Besse exercise set for Friday
The exercise is scheduled for May 10-12.
Preliminary findings will be reviewed by officials from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
