The Toledo Area Humane Society (TAHS) will continue its “$5 Friday” special adoption fee for kittens and cats through August.

The “$5 Friday” adoption special in June helped close to 270 cats and kittens find homes. Additionally, TAHS is introducing “$10 Tuesday” to help even more felines get adopted. “$10 Tuesday” begins Tuesday, July 10 and “$5 Friday” begins Friday, July 13. “$10 Tuesday” will also continue through August.

Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Director Scott Nally says after a rainfall, up to eight billion gallons of raw sewage enters Lake Erie. Nally said three billion gallons enters from Michigan alone.

Ohio state officials are appropriating $3 million dollars to create the Healthy Lake Erie Fund in an effort to establish regulatory control with the long term goal of reducing pollution entering the lake.

Three Indiana men face charges of drug possession after Lake Township police arrested them at the Super 8 Motel, Latcha Road.

Sgt. Scott Sims said the men were found with 700 pounds of marijuana, which police have estimated the street value at approximately $850,000.

A new pirate ship playground is expected in Genoa around mid-July.

“It’s been ordered and should be here sometime in the middle of July,” said Village Administrator Kevin Gladden. “It’s a little later than I had hoped, but we’ll have it.”
