Detectives were able to interview two hospitalized victims of last week’s shooting at the Eastpointe on the Mall subdivision in Lake Township that left three people dead, including a 3-year-old boy.

Mark Hummer, the township police chief, said Thursday detectives had interviewed Janet Brown, 45, 3749 Laketon Terrace,  and Mark McCrory, 39, of the same address, about the shooting.

Work is expected to start soon on the new, nearly $1 million Allen-Clay Joint Fire Station in Clay Center.

Fire department officials met recently to update Genoa Village Council on their plan.

District Fire Chief Bruce Moritz informed council that Harp Contractors of Northwood had won the construction bid. The company will get $995,000 to build the new headquarters and fire station at 3155 N. Genoa-Clay Center Road in Clay Center.

Voters in the Village of Woodville and Woodville Township will face a levy Nov. 6 that could well determine the future of Emergency Medical Service in the Sandusky County community.

A 4-mill, 5-year ballot issue that includes a replacement levy of 2.5 mills and an increase of 1.5 mills will, if passed, generate about $277,000 annually – about $131,000 more than the current 2.5-mill issue now generates.

Toledo police looking to double gang task force

The Toledo Police Department is placing bids for eight new gang task force officers that would double the size of the unit, said Sgt. Joe Heffernan.
