Voters in the Village of Woodville and Woodville Township will face a levy Nov. 6 that could well determine the future of Emergency Medical Service in the Sandusky County community.

A 4-mill, 5-year ballot issue that includes a replacement levy of 2.5 mills and an increase of 1.5 mills will, if passed, generate about $277,000 annually – about $131,000 more than the current 2.5-mill issue now generates.

Toledo police looking to double gang task force

The Toledo Police Department is placing bids for eight new gang task force officers that would double the size of the unit, said Sgt. Joe Heffernan.

While longtime voice of the Wildcats Dave Robenstine has no designs of hanging up his hallowed microphone anytime real soon, it seems not all things continue to stay the same around venerable, old Woodmore Stadium in recent vintage.

That's because as of the first Wildcat home football game way back on August 31, Robenstine, spotter Bob Eickel, stats-man Kent Weiss, and the rest of the WHS Friday night game crew, were finally gifted with a welcome, new press box to ply their seasonal trades in, which is an improvement Woodmore Athletic Boosters president Corey Cowell suggests was a long time coming.

Lifelong Elmore resident Dave Robenstine is an easygoing, no-nonsense type of guy.

Perhaps his endearing qualities, such as his folksy demeanor and rich lineage in Woodmore High School sports that spans 44 years, that has afforded the former banker and longtime Harris Township fiscal officer the opportunity to stay ensconced high atop Woodmore Stadium.

Oregon City Council on Monday will consider buying a robot to help police de-escalate potentially dangerous situations.

“I know robots will raise some eyebrows, but this will be a tactical robot that will be used by the Oregon Police SRT [Special Response Team],” Police Chief Mike Navarre said at a committee of the whole meeting on Monday. “There is not another robot like this in northwest Ohio. The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad has a robot that is used mainly for bomb detection. This will be a robot that is smaller, lighter weight, sleeker, faster and more agile.”
