The administration of the Genoa School District is still attempting to find a buyer of the Brunner Elementary School building and has been in talks with someone interested in the building.

Superintendent Dennis Mock walked through the building located in the Village of Genoa this week with a potential buyer.

Mock couldn’t be reached for comment but Bill Nye, district treasurer, said the person met with the superintendent Tuesday at the building.

A state agency has agreed to fund loans for the fourth phase of the Village of Genoa’s storm sewer installation plan.

The Ohio Public Works Commission recently notified village officials of the preliminary approval for the project slated to cover the northwest section of town, Village Administrator Kevin Gladden said.

The work covers Superior Street, near 17th Street, and West Street, between 15th and 17th streets.

Oregon City Council last week agreed to rehire former Law Director Paul Goldberg, who retired last month.

Goldberg retired on April 30 and will collect his pension. He was rehired by the city at a reduced salary at a June 13 council meeting. He is required to wait 60 days after April 30 before returning to his post.

Under his new contract, Goldberg will receive an annual salary of $49,000 as law director. He was paid about $170,000 in that position before he had retired.

If you put a garage sale sign too close the city right-of-way, do not be surprised if a man driving a white truck comes along and pulls it.

Chances are the man driving the truck is working for the city’s zoning inspector, and this is part of his job.

Oregon resident Mark Pollock, who lives at the corner of Wheeling and Eastvale streets, has had run-ins with residents who think he is stealing their sign.

The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association’s 2011 tour of some of the state’s sustainable and organic farms includes a stop at a local family farm.

Hirzel Farms, 20790 Bradner Rd., Luckey, will be open to the public June 18 at 10 a.m.

About 700 acres of the 2,000-acre farm have been certified organic.
