The Woodmore school board plans to interview candidates this week for the treasurer position that is opening due to the resignation of Jaime Pearson, who is leaving to work in the private sector.
Board president Joe Liszak said the board will meet in executive session Dec. 14 to interview four candidates at the board’s office in Elmore from 5-9 p.m.
“We’ll have Jaime a little while after the first of the year. We’re going to try to move as quickly as we can,” Liszak said. “Each of the candidates will get about 45 minutes per interview.”
He said he expected the board to schedule another round of interviews after narrowing the list this week. Pearson was hired at Woodmore in October 2014.
The full board and board committees have scheduled several other meetings for this week:
• A special meeting of the board will be held Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. at the board office, 349 Rice St., Elmore, to discuss the results of an audit of the district. Board members will go into executive session.
• The Buildings, Grounds and Transportation Committee is scheduled to meet Dec. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at the PreK-8 building in Woodville. Pending projects and goals, staffing and related issues will be discussed.
• The board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Dec. 13 instead of Dec. 20 in the PreK-8 building after the committee meeting.
• The Finance Committee will meet Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the board office in Elmore.
Voters in the school district approved the renewal of an operating levy last month after it had failed twice at the polls this year. The levy generates about $600,000 annually for the school system.
Liszak said its passage was “a great weight off our shoulders.”
